Dear Parents and Community Members,

I would like to thank the entire staff of the Truth or Consequences Schools for their hard work, professionalism and dedication to the students of T or C.  It has long been known the teacher in the classroom is the most important factor to student success at school.  However, as we all know, supportive, involved parents are the single most important factor in a child's life.  In other words, success at school begins at home.  Through the years we have had many successful students graduate from Hot Springs High School, and my belief is students will get from their public school experience exactly what they put into it.  Hard work, perseverance and focus are important traits for successful students to possess.

On February 7, 2017, the community passed the SB 9 election for our schools.  The funds collected from the 2 mil property tax will be used for general maintenance and upkeep of our buildings, playgrounds and athletic fields.  These types of projects include roof repairs, security equipment and playground maintenance.  I would like to thank all the teachers and staff who helped promote the election, and the parents and patrons who voted in favor of it.  Also, the T or C Chapter of the National Education Association was instrumental in the passage of the levy.  THANK YOU to all who supported the election.  In addition, we continue to make improvements utilizing the 2015 bond funds.  Projects currently underway include the new weight room at the High School, a new electronic message board for the Middle School and a re-roof at Arrey Elementary School.  Other projects which have been completed with the 2015 Bond funds include two (2) new activity buses, new desks and chairs for students at TCES and SEC, band equipment, new air conditioning, roof repairs, technology infrastructure improvements and a one-to-one laptop initiative at Hot Springs High School.  For more information about current or proposed bond projects, please call 575-894-8166.  Your vote and support are always appreciated.

We are happy to announce that all students eat free meals at all schools again this year.  As part of the National School Lunch Program, our community has qualified as Community Eligible.  Although the eligibility status indicates the hardships many of our families in T or C are experiencing, it also makes available nutritious school meals, including breakfast, to all students without the hassle of completing all the many pages of the Federal lunch form application.  The T or C Schools also operates a food bank in conjunction with Road Runner Food Banks of Albuquerque.  For more information on how to qualify for the monthly food baskets, please call Carmen Trujillo at Hot Springs High School, 575-894-8366.

Our staff are here to serve the needs of the students, the parents and the community.  If you have any questions at any time, do not hesitate to call the Central Office or your child's school.  Thank you for your continued support and welcome to TIGER LAND!!!

Respectfully,

Dr. Craig Cummins,

Superintendent of Schools
